therapies precision-built for neck and upper back relief

Kneading Massage

Helps release stress-related tension that builds in the trapezius muscles throughout the day.

Dual Theragun Percussion

Delivers deep massage to your upper back with two precision-placed, built-in Theraguns.

Soothing Heat

Gentle heat soothes tired muscles and promotes relaxation.

Near-Infrared LED Light

Supports the body’s natural recovery processes after everyday activity.

遠紅外線熱敷

Soothing heat warms deeper into the neck and upper back to help tense muscles feel relaxed and comfortable.

Two Theraguns, built into one wearable

Two Theraguns deliver deep, professional-grade percussion to both sides of your upper back at once — the same percussive power that made Theragun the standard, now built into a wearable that sits right where you need it.

Expertly engineered to target pain at the source

Engineered by body and pain experts and trusted by pros, ThermNeck & Upper Back targets the specific muscles behind neck and upper-back pain, including the upper traps, levator scapulae and deeper neck muscles that tighten from forward head posture. Each therapy is strategically positioned to work these areas directly, addressing the source of pain rather than just where you feel it.

Relieve tech neck from prolonged screen time

Dual Theragun percussion and far-infrared heat target the traps and upper neck muscles most affected by forward head posture. Adjust the speed and pressure to match how your neck feels that day, releasing neck stiffness and upper back tension before they build up.

Stop tension headaches before they start

Kneading massage and far-infrared heat work together to release the stress-related neck tension that accumulates in the traps and upper back throughout the day — before it escalates into tension headaches.

Cordless design with adjustable straps

ThermNeck & Upper Back features a cordless design with adjustable straps and hand loops that let you control the fit and pressure throughout your treatment — seated, standing or reclined. Pull the loops down and forward when you want deeper pressure or ease your grip for a gentler massage.

  • Dr. Daniel Giordano, PT, DPT, CSCS

"Over time, the muscles in the front of the chest become tight, while the muscles that support the neck, shoulder blades and upper back become weaker and less active. That imbalance is what drives the stiffness and tension so many people feel from screen posture. Targeting those overworked muscles directly — with percussion and heat placed right where the tension builds — is what helps release it at the source."

  • Dr. Rachelle Reed, PhD, MS, ACSM-EP, Head of Science Research and Communication

Neck and upper back tension rarely stays in one place. It radiates from a handful of predictable muscle groups. We designed ThermNeck & Upper Back around that reality, positioning percussion, kneading and heat exactly where those muscles sit, so the therapy meets the pain at its source instead of treating the neck as one generic zone.”

  • Dr. Jason Wersland, Founder and Chief Wellness Officer“

The neck and back are two areas where so many of us carry the effects of everyday life, whether from training, sitting at a desk, traveling or simply being on our feet all day. We created ThermNeck & Upper Back to bring Therabody’s proven, science-backed technology directly to these hard-working areas of the body. Our goal is to make effective therapeutic technologies easier to use at home, giving people the tools to care for their bodies consistently, before discomfort gets in the way.”

Precautions and Contraindications

FAQs

How is ThermNeck & Upper Back different from a regular neck massager?

ThermNeck & Upper Back brings five therapeutic modalities together in one cordless wearable: dual Theragun percussion, kneading massage, far-infrared heat, near-infrared LED light therapy and heat therapy. Rather than relying on multiple separate devices, such as a percussion massager, heating pad and near-infrared light therapy panel, it integrates these therapies to target the trapezius, levator scapulae and splenius capitis, the muscles most overloaded by forward-head posture and chronic stress.*

*Castellini, G. et al. (2022). Some conservative interventions are more effective than others for people with chronic non-specific neck pain: A systematic review and network meta-analysis. Journal of Physiotherapy, 68(4), 244–254.

Does ThermNeck & Upper Back use red light (near-infrared LED) therapy, and what does it do?

ThermNeck & Upper Back has 12 near-infrared LEDs built into the back of the neck. Near-infrared light helps reduce inflammation and support cellular recovery, while carbon-fiber far-infrared heat warms deep into the muscle to increase blood flow and release tightness. Together, they’re designed to do more than provide in-the-moment relief, helping ease underlying stiffness and support recovery over time.

Does heat help neck pain, and how does the far-infrared heat work?

Applying heat can boost blood flow and ease muscle tension, two effects that may help relieve neck pain. ThermNeck & Upper Back uses carbon-fiber far-infrared heat with three settings to warm deep into the muscle, increase blood flow and release tightness. It’s a deep, penetrating warmth a standard heating pad can’t reach.

Can ThermNeck & Upper Back help with tech neck?

Tech neck is the neck stiffness, soreness and forward-head tension that builds from hours spent looking down at a screen or phone. It happens when the muscles at the back and base of your neck — mainly the trapezius and splenius capitis — stay overloaded by that forward posture all day. ThermNeck & Upper Back targets those exact muscles with dual Theragun percussion, so you can release tech-neck tension right where screen posture creates it.

Can it help with stress-related neck tension and tension headaches?

Yes, this neck massage device can help with tension headache relief. When stress builds in your neck and shoulders, ThermNeck & Upper Back’s kneading massage helps release that stress-related tension — easing the tightness that can lead to tension-type headaches. Three kneading settings let you match the intensity to how tight your neck feels that day.

Who is ThermNeck & Upper Back best for?

ThermNeck & Upper Back is built for anyone dealing with tech neck, stiffness or tension from desk work, screen time or stress. If your neck feels stiff by mid-afternoon or tightens up when you're stressed, it's designed for you. The adjustable strap system fits a wide range of body types.

How does ThermNeck & Upper Back compare to a handheld Theragun?

A handheld Theragun delivers targeted percussion therapy across a wide range of muscle groups. ThermNeck & Upper Back is designed specifically to treat the neck and upper back, with dual Theragun percussion positioned to target the splenius capitis and trapezius, muscles most affected by forward-head posture. It also combines kneading massage, far-infrared heat, heat therapy and near-infrared LED light therapy in one integrated device.

The two products are complementary: use a handheld Theragun for versatile, full-body percussion therapy and ThermNeck & Upper Back when you want a multi-therapy treatment designed specifically for the neck and upper back.

What is included with ThermNeck & Upper Back?

ThermNeck & Upper Back ships with the device, a soft travel case and a USB-C charging cable.

How do I clean ThermNeck & Upper Back?

Wipe the massage heads and silicone surfaces with a damp cloth or alcohol-free wipe after each use. Do not submerge the device in water or expose it to excessive moisture. Allow all components to dry fully before storing or recharging.
